Where to play and watch tennis locally

Wimbledon captures hearts worldwide each summer, and here in Edinburgh, the love for tennis is alive and thriving. We are spoilt for choice with over a dozen public and semi-public courts across the city, with many of our properties enjoying close proximity to tennis clubs.

Our three ‘local’ courts, all within easy reach of the Cullerton’s office on St Stephen Street, are: Inverleith Park Tennis Courts on Arboretum Place, The Grange Club on Portgower Place, and The Dean Tennis and Squash Club on Lennox Street – all located in Stockbridge.

The Grange Club is one of the most historic sports clubs in Scotland, with tennis, padel, hockey, cricket, and squash sections. Formed in 1883, Grange Dyvours is Edinburgh’s oldest tennis club and the only club in Scotland with four grass tennis courts. In addition to the grass courts, the club also offers four floodlit, all-weather courts. As of winter 2024, the club includes two indoor courts with cushioned acrylic surfaces.

Inverleith Park Tennis Courts, comprising four all-weather courts, underwent a state-of-the-art refurbishment in 2023 and now even offer free coaching sessions. The courts welcome anyone aged 5 and over to join free hour-long sessions on Sundays from 10am to 11am throughout the summer.

The Dean Tennis and Squash Club, formerly known as Dean Lawn Tennis Club, was established in 1884. It features four floodlit artificial grass courts, a mini-court suitable for younger children, two squash courts, and a clubhouse.
